Biography

Gyula Mazúr started his sport career with Újpesti Előre KK. From 1911, he competed in the colours of Vándorkedv KK. Mazúr was excellent both in track and road races. He was a member of the Hungarian national team, and also competed at the Stockholm Olympics.

Gyula Mazur took part in World War I, where he fought on the Russian front until 1915.

He later led a bicycle parts manufacturing and repair workshop in Újpest and worked for his beloved sport as a vice-president first of Vándorkedv KK and later for Újpesti Előre KK. Mazur took his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning, together with his wife.
