Biography

Robbie McEwen started out as a BMX racer in Australia but switched to road racing when he was 18-years-old. He is a sprinter, known as one of the fastest ones in the pro peloton, which has brought numerous race wins. He started racing professionally in 1996 and has won the Tour de France points classification three times, in 2002, 2004, and 2006. In 2002 he was runner-up in the World Championship road race. His major one-day classics wins have come at Paris-Brussels, which he has won four times – 2002, and 2005-07. Throgh 2010, McEwen has won 12 stages each in both the Tour and the Giro d’Italia.
