Biography

Tom Montemage started bike racing as a youth in Buffalo. He was drafted into the Army at the end of World War II, in 1945. Montemage competed in three Olympics, at London in 1948, Helsinki in 1952, and Tokyo in 1964. He rode the team pursuit on the track in 1948-52 and the road race in 1964. Montemage later became a Buffalo firefighter and lived there all his life. He continued to cycle both to work and for exercise well into his 70s.
