Biography

Károly Neubauer became acquainted with cycling as a bicycle courier, when he read about a bike race in Nemzeti Sport and decided to race. In 1929 he joined Postás SE. He competed under the name Nótás and in 1937 officially adopted the name. From 1935-44, he won 14 Hungarian championships (12 track, 2 road). From 1933-48 he was a member of the Hungarian road race team, and from 1939-48 the national track team. In 1933 he competed at the World Championship.

In 1936, Nemes-Notás competed at the Berlin Olympics in the road race, where he was involved in a crash and did not finish. After the Olympics, he turned to track racing. World War II also shattered his career, but in 1945 he continued to compete in the colors of Budapest Rendészeti SE. Nemes-Notás finished his sports career in 1949, but remained involved in cycling, and through 1967 worked in the leadership of the Hungarian Cycling Association.
