Biography

Ferenc Pelvássy started his career as a cyclist in 1926 in the colors of MTK, then from 1938 he continued with Postás SE. Between 1929 and 1949, he competed primarily in track, winning seven championships in team pursuit, three in sprint, two in the tandem and pairs, and one in the point race.

Between 1931 and 1949 Pelvássy earned 16 caps. He took part in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, in team pursuit (7th), and in tandem finished 11th alongside Miklós Németh. In 1950, at age 40, he ended his sports career, but stayed involved in cycling. In the 1950s, he was a national supervisor and coach of the national team. In the latter position he coached at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He later worked in the cycling division of Typografia TE as a consultant and master trainer.
