Biography
August Schaffer was an Austrian cyclist who participated in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. He was eliminated in the first round of the sprint event as the only competitor of three for unknown reasons, and also lost his first-round match in the tandem sprint (with Ferry Dusika) to the Dutch team.
From 1926-32 Schaffer dominated sprint events in Austria and won the national title five times in 1924, 1926–27, 1931–32. Together with Dusika he also won the 1932 tandem national title. Dusika and Schaffer owned a bicycle shop at Wien (Vienna) and organised several cycling events in Austria after World War II.
