Biography

Anatoly Chukanov was a participant in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montréal, where he became a team time trial gold medallist with the Soviet Union team, along with Valery Chaplygin, Aavo Pikkuus, and Vladimir Kaminsky ). At the UCI Road World Championships in 1977 Chukanov also won the team time trial title with the same foursome. In 1976 he also won the national the team time trial championship. He was also the individual time trial champion.

After his career, Chukanov moved from Rostov to his home country Ukraine. After retirement he was teaching sport-related subjects at the East Ukraine Volodymyr Dahl National University.
