Biography

Ferenc Uhereczky started cycling in the colors of Kitartás KK in 1914. In his early years he competed mainly in track races. In 1920 he moved to Világosság KK. Uhereczky won the Hungarian Championship title seven times between 1918-20 and 1922-24. In 1923, he was the first Hungarian competitor in the cycling World Championships. Uhereczky’s biggest Hungarian rival was János Grimm, although they rode together in tandem races, placing fourth at the 1924 Paris Olympics.

After finishing his career Uhereczky worked in the administration of Hungarian cycling sport. He was the founder of the BSE Bicycle Division, and also served as director of the Millenaris Cycling track in Budapest. In addition to his sports career, Uhereczky dealt with bicycle, motorcycle, and car sales. As a car dealer, he also designed his own two-person car.
