Władysław Popielarski

Władysław Popielarski began playing handball when he was at school and won the Polish Junior Championship with MKS Truso in 1966. From 1969 to 1974 Popielarski represented Spójnia Gdańsk, winning the Polish Championship in 1970, and finishing as a runner-up in both 1973 and 1974. He continued his domestic career in Poland with Wybrzeże Gdańsk, before joining the German side TSV Grün-Weiß in 1981, representing them until 1983.

Popielarski also represented the Polish national handball team from 1970 to 1974. He played in qualifying matches for the 1972 München Olympics, but did not compete at the Games himself, travelling with the squad as a reserve player. History repeated itself two years later when he played in the qualifying rounds for the 1974 World Handball Championship, but did not play in the final tournament. In 1994 Popielarski was honoured with the Diamond Badge of the Polish Handball Association.
