Walter Grenda was a prominent amateur cyclist who rode in multiple races in the Newark area in the 1910s and 1920s. Grenda was a member of the Paterson Triangle Cycling Club and later became the President of the Amateur Bicycle League of America. He also became the coach and manager of the US cycling team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Grenda himself was named in the start list for the road race at the Berlin Games, but he did not compete. After the war he served as a member of the 1948 Olympic Committee.
