Biography

Domingo Villanueva first represented the Philippines at the Olympics at the 1988 Seoul Games, where he came in 103rd in the road race. Four years later, in Barcelona, he failed to finish that event. He had more luck at the Southeast Asian Games, where he won gold in the team trial in 1991 in Manila and in the 140 kilometer road race in Singapore in 1993. He then raced as a professional, taking part in the Marlboro Tour (now the Tour de Filipinas) for several years. Following his retirement from active competition, he served for many years as coach of the Philippine national team.
