As a goalkeeper, Paul Dearing earned 69 caps for Australia in hockey between 1963-72 and competed at the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympics, earning a silver and a bronze medal. He later became a coach and hockey umpire and in 2008 was inducted into Hockey Australia’s Hall of Fame. His son, Stewart, also a keeper, played with the Australian team from 1990-94 and then became an international umpire.
