Arthur Lord was a wealthy American who spent much of his time in France. Lord arrived in France in 1895 and spent much of the rest of the life working as French representative for a succession of US companies. He was a member of the Dinard Golf Club and Paris Golf Club, representing the former at the 1900 Olympic golf tournament. Lord donated the Prix de Jouy-de-Jonas for players with handicaps above 19. He finished third in the handicap event at the 1900 Olympics, playing off his handicap of 23.
