Biography

Periklis Kakousis was twice an Olympic competitor, in 1904 and 1906. In 1904 he won the two-hands weightlifting gold medal, and also competed in tug-of-war with the Panellinios Gymnastikos Syllogos team. In 1906 he again participated in two-hands weightlifting, finishing sixth, and took part in the discus throw in athletics. Kakousis, who was from Aegina, an island in the Saronic Gulf, later settled in the United States where he became a professional wrestler.
