Biography

Harry Weber was probably Ohio’s greatest amateur golfer in the early part of this century and his competitive career, at the top levels, spanned almost 25 years. Weber was from the Inverness Club in Toledo in 1904 and remained a member there for many years. His first appearance in the U.S. Amateur occurred in 1902 when he lost in the first round. Weber played in the National Amateur almost every year, and in 1923 he qualified for the match play, again losing in the first round. In the interim, however, he fared better, making it to the 1905 semi-finals and the 1910 quarter-finals. In 1914 he made his only appearance at the British Amateur, reaching the fourth round. Weber four times was amateur champion of Ohio – in 1907, 1912, 1920, and 1921.
