Biography

Hosni Farag’s boxing talents were first noticed when he was serving in the Egyptian Armed Forces and he went on to represent his country as a bantamweight in several international military tournaments. The highlight of his career, however, was when he was selected to represent Egypt in that category at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. There, he had the misfortune of being drawn against upcoming silver medalist Jeong Sin-Jo of Korea in round one and thus did not advance. Following his retirement from active competition, he became a trainer and was working in this capacity in Jordan when he died suddenly.
