Biography

Zafar Iqbal was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1983 by the Government of India, which is the highest award in sports in India. He received the Yash Bharat Award in 1995 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, which is the highest citizen award in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Iqbal was national coach of India in 1993-1994 and was a selector for India over three terms.

Iqbal’s business career was as an executive director of properties and facilities with Indian Airlines. He also served as a consultant with the University Grants Commission in the sports curriculum committee. After his retirement he focused on golf and became a top senior player in India.
