Biography

Kirpal Singh Bhardwaj competed for Kenya in hockey at three Olympic Games – 1960, 1964, 1968. He played for the Sikh Union Nairobi from 1957-69, after learning his hockey in Punjab, India in 1955-56. After studying at Government Indian School and Government Secondary School in Kampala, Uganda, Singh Bhardwaj went to India where he studied at Khalsa High School, Batala in Punjab. He then attended Hindu College, Amritsar in Punjab and Punjab University. He worked for Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners, a civil engineering firm, in Nairobi from 1970-79, but moved to Britain in 1980 where he worked for the parent company of the same firm.
