Little is known about the sculptor and medalist David Manetti, as only his medals and plaques, often with sports motifs, are frequently mentioned. Many of his works were created during the Fascist period, but he apparently continued his work for the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) until the 1950s. Among his other works are a plaster sculpture of a group of soldiers (probably) gathered around Mussolini, and a reliquary for the head of St. Catherine in the church of San Domenico in Siena.
