Biography

Jacques Lataste was a member of the highly successful French foil team that won Olympic team gold medals in 1948 and 1952, team foil silver at the 1956 Olympics, team World titles in 1951 and 1953, and team silvers at the 1949 and 1950 World Championships. Individually he won foil bronzes at the 1950 and 1955 World Championships, was fourth at the 1952 Olympics and won the French foil title in 1950. Outside of sports, Lataste worked as a surgeon at the Hospital Center Intercommunal Créteil and Péan Surgical Clinic in Paris.
