Biography

Jean Piot’s major success, besides his Olympic feats, was the team sabre title at the 1935 European Championships, which were replaced in 1937 by the World Championships. He was French Champion with the sabre in 1932 and 1935 and with the épée in 1933. Piot later became a fencing coach at the Prefecture of Police fencing school and in 1936 introduced fencing lessons for ladies, holding the position until 1946. Three more generations of the Piot family became notable fencers, all wearing the colors of the Association Sportive de la Prefecture de Police in Paris.
