In 1932 he was 3rd with 7 victories, one draw (which was possible back then) and 3 defeats in the competition won by fellow Italian Giancarlo Cornaggia-Medici, who only had one win more. He also won one gold (1937) and one bronze (1938) at the World Championships, and one silver (1930), also in the team épée event, in the European Championships.
