Biography

Tage Brauer was one of 12 siblings of a farmer near Växjö. Tage represented IFK Växjö, when he was entered in high jump at the Olympic Games in Stockholm. He did not start, however. In 1912, he was also a member of the gymnastics team and remained active in his club leading the gymnastics group in the mid-1920s. In 1934/35, he was chairman of the Växjö Bollklubb (VBK), which was founded in 1924.

Brauer joined the army and was commissioned as a lieutenant of the Kronoberg Regiment in 1918. He was promoted to the rank of captain in 1940 in the Västernorrland Regiment No 21 and eventually to major of the reserve. Brauer was appointed Knight of the Order of the Sword. In 1931, he married Greta Lilly Maria Brauer Pettersson; they had four sons.
