Jiří Jesenský graduated from Charles University Medical School and became a dental surgeon in Prague. When German occupied Czechoslovakia in World War II, he joined the resistance movement and cared for the paratroopers of Operation Anthropoid who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich. He was arrested for this together with his wife and executed by firing squad at the Mauthausen concentration camp. There’s a memorial plaque on Resslova Street in front of the house where they lived in Prague before the arrest.
