Biography

Yury Rudov belonged to the Soviet national foil team from 1956-64. During this time, he competed at two Olympic Games and five World Championships, winning an Olympic team foil gold in 1960 and World team titles in 1959, 1961 and 1963. He also won team foil silver at the 1958 World Championships and won his only individual Soviet foil title in 1960. Rudov retired from sports after he was not selected for the 1964 Soviet Olympic team and later worked as a fencing coach with Dynamo Moskva.
