Biography

Centre-back Ladislaus Kurpiel was a member of the Austrian football team at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. The team won 5-1 against Germany in the first round but was eliminated in the quarter-finals 3-1 by the Netherlands. In the consolation round Austria they beat Norway 1-0 and Italy 5-1 but then lost the final to Hungary 3-0.

Domestically, Kurpiel played with Deutscher FC Prag (1897-1903), Wien (Vienna) Cricket and Football-Club (1903-04), and again with Prag (1904-13). He won eight Austrian international caps. He died from a stroke in 1930.
