Biography

Imre Schlosser was one of the greatest footballers of his era, the first European star of Hungarian football. He was 13 times a Hungarian champion and 7-times the leading league scorer, both of which are Hungarian records (through 2019). Schlosser played his first game in FTC’s first team at the age of 17 and until 1915 he played eight seasons with this club. During this period he helped them win six titles and led the league in scoring six times. After a conflict with the management, he moved to their big rival, MTK.

Schlosser played for MTK for six seasons, winning the championship each year, and in his first season there, he was again the top scorer in the first division. In 1922, he became a professional trainer, but he returned to FTC as a player in the autumn of 1926 and won his 13th national title. In the next season Schlosser moved to Buda 33, and in 1928 he joined Pesterzsébet II, after which he announced his retirement.

Schlosser played from 1906-27 for the Hungarian national team and scored 68 goals. Under the sport name of Lakatos he was a member of the Hungarian football team at the 1912 Olympics. At the end of the 1930s he changed his family name to Solymosi.
