Biography

George Nemchik attended Temple University where he played football (soccer). He played for 11 seasons in the American Soccer League (ASL), 1934-45, and a final season in the North American Soccer Football League. He started in 1934 with the Philadelphia German-Americans, helping them win the ASL title in 1935 and the National Challenge Cup in 1936. Nemchik stayed with the German-Americans through 1941 and then played one season each in his final five years in the league with the Philadelphia Nationals, Kearny Celtic, New York Americans, Brookhattan, and Chicago Viking. In his final season playing, Nemchik helped Chicago Viking win the 1946 National Challenge Cup. He earned four caps with the US national team, one at the 1936 Olympics, and three friendlies in 1937 against Mexico.
