A native of Barcelona, Lucius Minicius Natalis Quadronius Verus (NQV) was the son of Lucius Minicius Natalis, a prominent plebeian who held several civilian and military positions in Numidia, Dacia, and Pannonia. Lucius Minicius NQV held his first public office as tresviri monetalis, a prestigious position in the vigintiviri. He then began a military career, serving in three different legions on the Danubian frontier and playing an important role in the conquest of Dacia.
After returning to Roma, Lucius Minicius NQV became a quaestor to Emperor Hadrian. He also served as legate to his father when the father governed Africa. The son later was plebeian tribune as the candidatus to Emperor Hadrian, and then became praetor. Around 130 Lucius Minicius NQV was appointed legatus legionis or commander of the Legio VI Victrix in Britain. His other public positions included praefectus alimentorum, curator of the Via Flaminia, suffect consul, governor of Moesia Inferior, Proconsul of Africa (153-54), and patron of his hometown of Barcino.
