Biography

Valerie Zimring was just out of high school when she competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She also represented the US at the 1981 and 1983 World Championships. She had started out in artistic gymnastics but later switched to rhythmic. She was a member of the US national team from 1979-85. Zimring attended college at UCLA, graduating in 1989, and then obtained a masters’ from there in program dance in 1991. Zimring married Ross Schneiderman and raised two children. She worked for NBC Television as a technical advisor for rhythmic gymnastics at the 1988 and 1996 Olympics, and did some television announcing.
