Biography

After graduating with a Master’s Degree from Northern Michigan University Leon Jacques became a teacher in middle schools in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jacques spent more than 30 years officiating sporting fixtures in high schools and colleges including Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) football, basketball, and baseball tournaments. He served as an umpire at the ISC World Softball Championships and worked as an umpire for USA Baseball. After umpiring baseball matches in the Door County League in Wisconsin, Jacques had the opportunity of officiating in matches at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. For his work in the sport he was named a Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Umpire of the Year and a USA Baseball Umpire of the Year. Jacques was also inducted into the GBOA Hall of Fame, the Door County Baseball Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Basketball Hall of Fame.
