Biography

Charles Behm represented the club Société de Gymnastique from the capital’s district of Grund. He competed at the 1905 and 1907 World Championships, where he placed fourth with the team both times. At the first national trials in January 1912, he placed 10th. After the final trials in June, Behm was one of 16 gymnasts selected for the Olympics. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm, the team from Luxembourg, including Behm, placed fifth and last in the team event of the free system but missed bronze by less than one point in the team event of the European system. Like many gymnasts of the time, he was also active in track and field. In 1909, he won a local pole vault competition.

Charles Behm was a master carpenter and served as an instructor at the Grand-Ducal Fencing and Gymnastics Club. In 1901, he married Margaretha Schintgen and died after a short illness at the age of 41. The marriage remained childless.
