Biography

István Serényi (born as Schleisinger) was a handball player at VAC (Vívó and Atlétikai Club) Budapest. He was one of the best defenders of his age. With his affiliation, he won the national championship in 1934. Between 1935 and 1936 he played in the Hungarian national team ten times. He was a member of the fourth-placed Hungarian team at the Berlin Olympics. Later he worked as a coach for the Kőbányai Textiles team. He worked at the Kőbánya Brewery and then at the Ofotért Company in Budapest.
