Biography

Chad Green was a switch-hitting outfielder who played for the USA at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, winning a bronze medal. He was drafted in the ninth round of the 1993 MLB draft, but opted to play college ball at the University of Kentucky. In 1996 he was the eighth overall pick of the MLB draft, chosen by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Green was a career minor leaguer who was known for his speed and stealing bases. He started with the Ogden Raptors in 1996, hitting .358 that year and stealing 12 bases in 21 games. Like many career minor leaguers, he played for multiple teams under many different MLB organizations.

His best season was 1997 with the Stockton Ports, when he played 127 games and had 37 stolen bases. He played for Stockton again in early 1998 but was promoted to the Double-A El Paso Diablos. He eventually made it to Triple-A in 2000 with the Indianapolis Indians. Green retired after the 2005 season, having been in one game that year with the Carolina Mudcats as a pinch runner.
