Biography

Seth Greisinger was a right-handed power pitcher who played in college at the University of Virginia and won a bronze medal with the USA team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Greisinger was drafted in the seventh round of the 1993 MLB but elected to attend college. He was drafted again in 1996 as the sixth overall pick of the MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers.

After one season in the minors Greisinger played major league ball with the Tigers in 1998, starting 21 games and winning 6 times. His career was then derailed by an arm injury and he was out of baseball until 2002 when he played one more season with the Tigers. After missing 2003 Greisinger played brief periods in 2004 with the Minnesota Twins and 2005 with the Atlanta Braves, finishing was a career major league record of 10 wins and 16 losses.

Seth Greisinger then went on to play successfully for parts of nine seasons in Japan. He was 14-12 with a 3.09 ERA for the Kia Tigers in 2006. His best season was 2012 with Chiba Lotte Marines, posting a 12-8 record with an ERA of 2.24. In Japan he played for the Kia Tigers (2005-06), the Tokyo Yakult Swallows (2007), the Yomiuri Giants (2008-11), and the Chiba Lotte Marines (2012-13).
