Biography

Chad McConnell played high school baseball in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 17th round of the 1989 MLB Draft. McConnell eschewed that opportunity and chose to play ball at Creighton University, where he earned All-American honors. In 1992 he was chosen 13th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies, in the first round of the 1992 MLB Draft.

McConnell never made it to the major leagues. He played minor league ball in the Phillies organization from 1993-96, playing with Clearwater in A-ball, and the Reading in Double-A ball. An outfielder, his career minor league average was .259, with a career OPS of .783.
