Biography

At the 1988 Olympics, Marina Bazanova competed for the Soviet Union in all five matches, scoring 13 goals, and she had the exact same result at the 1992 Olympics for the Unified Team. Bazanova played on World Champions three times – 1982 in Hungary, 1986 in the Netherlands, and 1990 in Korea (South). She won a Soviet Championship seven times, always while playing for Spartak, Kyiv. Playing in Germany with TuS Walle Bremen, she also won four German Championships. She added six titles at the EHF Championsh League while playing for Spartak, and also won the EHF Winners’ Cup once with TuS Walle Bremen. After graduating, she worked as a therapist in Bremen, before dying of cancer.
