Biography

Austrian rower Rudolf Höpfler was a member of the coxless fours crew that finished fifth at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The crew was assembled by RV Wiking Linz, and the other members were Hans Binder, Camillo Winkler, and Wilhelm Pichler. They lost the first-round race to Germany but won their semi-final against Denmark and the United States to qualify for the final round.

The same quartet had already won a silver medal at the 1935 European Championships. Höpfler also won a bronze medal together with Winkler in the 1935 coxless pairs.
