Biography

Alexander Mitterhuber rowed the four for Austria at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. In 1956 Mitterhuber elected to emigrate to Canada. He settled in Toronto where he married and raised a family. Mitterhuber joined the Toronto Harbour Police, a job he held for 16 years.

In the winter, when the job was slower, he worked repairing wooden boats for the Harbour Police. This led to another career, in which he left the Police Force and started his own business doing classic wooden boat repair. His shop became so well known that he never had to do advertising, relying strictly on word of mouth referrals.
