Biography

Abdel Mohsen Isma’il was the Egyptian single sculls champion in 1959, and the following year was selected to represent his country (at the time competing as the United Arab Republic with Syria) in the eights at the 1960 Rome Olympics. There, alongside, Gazi Farag, Abdel Sattar Ibrahim, Mohamed Abdel Sami, Abdel Fattah Abou-Shanab, Taha Hassouba, Saleh Ibrahim, Ibrahim Abdulhalim, and Abbas Khamis, he was eliminated in the round one repêchage. He had the same result in 1964, with Khamis, Abou-Shanab, Ibrahim, Ali Abdel Sami, Ibrahim Metwalli, Abdel Latif Metwalli, Ahmed Ibrahim, and Ali Abdel Radi. By career he served in the Egyptian Army, but later spent many years as a rowing coach.
