Biography

Ansèlme Brusa was born in Switzerland of Italian nationality. Still in Switzerland he excelled in gymnastics, even becoming national champion. After World War I he came to France, settling in Lyon. He was 1931 European champion in the coxed pairs with André Giriat and Pierre Brunet. Shortly before the Games in Los Angeles, Brusa became a French citizen, so he was able to participate for France at the Games with this crew, winning the bronze medal. In 1927 and 1931 they were also French Champions.
