Biography

Rower Martina Walther won the gold medal with the East German coxed fours at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At World Championships, she won three silver medals, with the eights in 1985 and 1989, and coxed fours in 1987. Additionally, she won the bronze medal in the 1986 coxless pairs with Kathrin Haacker.

Domestically, Walther won East German eights national titles in 1985 and 1989, and coxed fours in 1987 and 1988. Walther studied physiotherapies but worked in the construction industry after re-unification.
