Biography

Bondi Miksa began his competitive career as a boxer for the BVSC (1933-1939), then continued with the Csepeli MTK (1939-1948). He was the national youth champion between 1933 and 1935, and then won the senior individual Hungarian championship five times (1937-1940, 1948). Between 1934 and 1940 he boxed 18 times for the Hungarian national team and won a silver medal at the 1937 European Championships in Dublin. He was also invited to the European team in 1939. During his active career Bondi was the national captain of the Hungarian national boxing team in 1945-1946. He competed in the 1948 Olympics in the flyweight division, but was defeated in the first round and finished unplaced. After the Olympics he hung up his gloves and served in the Army. He worked in the Ministry of Defense until 1958, and then was appointed to the Labor Guard Command.

After the end of his sports career he was the coach of the boxing department of the FTC between 1955 and 1958, and then of the Újpesti Dózsa (1959-60). In 1957 he worked as the head coach of the national team. He received the title of master coach in 1961. From 1991 until his death he was also the head coach of the Tájfun Private Boxing Club.
