When Vilmos Éden was in high school he competed in table tennis and shooting before achieving results in rowing. From 1933 to 1946, he was a rower of the Hungária EE. During this time, he won a total of seven championships, three times with the coxed fours, twice with the coxless pairs and twice with the eights.
As a member of the Hungarian eights, he finished first at both the European championship in 1934 and a year later at the World College Games. In 1936, he was a member of the coxed fours that finished fifth at the Berlin Olympics. In 1937, as a member of the eights, he was fourth in the European Championship, in 1937, he was second in the coxed fours and third in the eights at the World College Games.
