Biography

Lajos Haraszthy was a rower with the famous Pannónia Rowing Club. As a junior he was a sculler before moving into fours and eights. Shortly before the 1908 Olympics, Pannónia beat the London Thames Rowing Club but, at the Olympics, they failed to qualify for the final. From 1921, Haraszthy rowed for Budapest EE and also took part in the management of the Association. He later competed as a skater. His son followed his footsteps, and was also a successful rower.
