Biography

Renato “Attào” Barbieri was a member of the Scarronzoni, the rowers of the Unione Canottieri Livornesi, becoming European Champion in 1929 with the eights, also second at the European Championships 1930, 1931 and 1933. He also was Italian Champion with the eights in 1929-1933. Before and after his time with the team from Livorno, he rowed for Nautica Venezia. After World War II Barbieri coached the next generation of the club from Venezia.
