Biography

Dudley Storey competed at three Olympic Games (1964, 1968, 1972), winning a gold in the coxed four in 1968, and silver in the coxless four in 1972. He was better known for his administrative career with New Zealand rowing, and is considered responsible for many of the successes the Kiwis have had in international rowing. He was the manager of New Zealand teams that were among the best in the world in the 1980s. Storey led the Kiwi eight to the World Championship in 1982 and 1983 and the men’s coxed four to a World gold in 1983. He led the team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Storey coached at the Baradene College of the Sacred Heart in Auckland for many years.
