Biography

Tomasz Tomiak won a bronze medal in the coxed fours at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Graduating from AWFiS in Gdańsk, he started rowing with PTW Płock, but later represented AZS-AWFiS Gdańsk, starting in 1989. Tomiak also won two medals at the World Championships, a bronze in coxed fours at Wien (Vienna) in 1991, and a silver in 1993 at Racice in the coxless fours.

After his sports career ended in 1995, Tomiak remained closely affiliated with rowing. From 2001-08 he was a board member of the Polish Association of Rowing Societies, and in 2004 he was the vice-president for sports with PZTW. In 2008, he became President of AZS-AWFiS Gdańsk. Tomiak worked as a researcher at the Gdańsk Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
