Ernst Wetterstrand rowed for Vaxholms RF in the coxed fours at the 1912 Olympics. In the first round they lost to the eventual gold medallists from the German Ludwigshafener Ruderverein and were eliminated.
Like his father and some of his brothers, Ernst Wetterstrand worked as a carpenter. In 1914, he married Frida Maria Öberg. They were parents of three children.
