Biography

The daughter of an orthopaedic surgeon, with a sister who played on the LPGA Tour, Carolina Keggi, it was not unexpected that Mara Keggi would get into sports. Keggi rowed for the US at the 1985 and 1986 World Championships, placing fourth with the eight in 1985 and sixth in the coxed four in 1986. She won two silver medals, in the same two boats, at the 1986 Goodwill Games. Keggi rowed a pair at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, placing sixth.

Mara Keggi later entered business school at Emory, studying sports event marketing. She started as an intern with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG), and after earning her MBA in May 1994, she worked full-time with ACOG, overseeing the rowing facilities at Lake Lanier. Keggi would eventually work for the National Rowing Foundation in Connecticut, starting as Director of Operations and an Event Marketing Consultant, and later being named Associate Director.
